Many of you have read about Jack (Yaakov Yosef) Rosenberg, the Chassidic pilot and member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary who crash landed a plane in New Jersey. Jack risked his own life to avoid hitting any civilians on the ground. Jack and his co-pilot Erik were severely injured and will be out of work for months as they recuperate from their extensive injuries.

I have known Jack for many years. In 2006, the Coast Guard Auxiliary wanted to deny him an opportunity to volunteer for his country—simply for wanting to wear his yarmulke on duty—and he turned to me for help. He was my hero then for standing up for his principles. He is our hero now for the selfless act of risking his life during a time he truly thought would be his last moments on earth.

Jack actually called me to make sure I had no regrets having helped him get the Coast Guard position. This is someone whose true essence is chesed (kindness) and valuing others before himself. As a community, let us now come together to help Jack in his time of need.

Please consider donating even a small amount so that Jack and his family can get through the next few months of medical treatments without worrying about the costs.
