“I’m Sick of the Double-Standard”

Assemblyman Dov Hikind (D-Brooklyn) voiced his outrage over what he termed a “double-standard and anti-Semitic policy” by the European parliament, in light of their announcement on labeling Israeli products made in the Golan Heights, Judea, and Samaria.

Hikind stated, “Israel is a small country, the one democracy in the Middle East, surrounded by others who want to destroy her. The EU is obsessed with undermining Israel. They have chosen to single out Israel, ignoring every single other territorial dispute.” Calling out the hypocrisy of the guidelines, Hikind rhetorically asked, “Will the EU now label products made in China-occupied Tibet and Russia-occupied Ukraine?”

Hikind noted that his own coat and sweater were made in China and Vietnam, respectively, saying, “Countries such as China, Saudi Arabia, Vietnam, and Pakistan have never heard of human rights and surely don’t practice them. I haven’t seen the EU boycotting countless countries known for their gross human rights atrocities, slave labor, and the brutal suppression of their people. The EU sells similar products but chooses to single out Israel. This policy is anti-Semitic and as Prime Minister Netanyahu noted, this ridiculous policy will only end up hurting Palestinian workers in these Israeli businesses.”
