Assemblyman Dov Hikind (D-Brooklyn) will speak this Monday, Sept. 22, at a rally to protest the Metropolitan Opera’s gala opening of the controversial “The Death of Klinghoffer.” Demonstrators will blast the piece as both anti-Semitic and pro-terrorism.
The work is about the 1985 death of the 69-year-old disabled American who was murdered and tossed overboard by Palestinian hijackers of the cruise ship Achille Lauro.
Protesters will wave American flags and have wheelchairs to reinforce the plight of former New Yorker Leon Klinghoffer.
Other scheduled speakers include former Attorney General Michael Mukasey, New York Board of Rabbis Executive VP Rabbi Joseph Potasnik, Catholic League boss Bill Donahue, and Zionist Organization of America president Morton Klein.
The event, which is being promoted by 5W Public Relations chief Ronn Torossian, will take place across the street from Lincoln Center Plaza on Columbus Ave and 65th St. beginning at 4 p.m.
