Assemblyman Dov Hikind is visiting Israel on a four-day solidarity trip. He visited wounded victims of terrorism at Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem. Hikind was briefed by Dr. Philip Levine, head of the Intensive Care Unit and Gadi Ilan, Director of the Logistics Department at SZMC. One of the victims Hikind visited is Aron Moshe Chaim ben Chana, a yeshiva student who was stabbed in the neck and brought to the hospital with the terrorist’s knife still lodged in his neck. In another visit, the victim, Meir, showed Hikind the multiple stab wounds on his body. Meir said he recited Shema Yisrael since he did not think he would live.

Hikind also toured the site in Jerusalem’s Old City where Rabbi Nehemia Lavi and Rabbi Aharon Banita-Bennett were murdered on Saturday evening, October 3, 2015 by a knife-wielding terrorist. The terrorist first attacked Rabbi Aharon Banita-Bennett, his wife Adele, their 2-year-old son, and baby daughter. They were on their way to daven at the Kotel. Rabbi Lavi, who lived in Beit Wittenberg in the Old City, and was a reserve officer in the IDF, heard their cries and went down to help the family. He too was killed by the terrorist. Hikind also visited Ateret Yerushalayim, the yeshiva where Rabbi Nehemia Lavi taught, to give chizuk to his students and rebbeim.
