Assemblyman Dov Hikind (D-Brooklyn) said he was proud to stand in the rain yesterday with so many of the Orthodox community’s volunteers who responded to his call for unity. Groups from throughout New York City sent representatives to demonstrate their support for the NYPD by attending the funeral of NYPD Officer Wenjian Liu.

Among those organizations present were members of Bikur Cholim, Boro Park JCC, Chaverim, Chesed, Chesed Shel Emes, COJO, the Flatbush Jewish Community Council, Hatzolah, Mekimi, Misaskim, the Shomrim, and the UJO.

“Our community is more than appreciative for what New York’s Finest do for us and standing with them was the very least we could do in return,” said Assemblyman Hikind. “I’ve received calls from the NYPD brass thanking me—and thanking our community—for our strong and continued support. Our community’s volunteers have their appreciation and mine for sharing in this moment of grief and solidarity.”
