On Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Midwood residents lined up to shred their personal, sensitive documents at Khal Hisachdis Yireim Veretzky (Rabbi Landau’s Shul). The free event, which was sponsored by Assemblyman Dov Hikind, dove-tailed with Passover cleaning and tax season that is already taking place in many homes and allowed local residents to worry less about identify theft.

“I’ve warned people in the past to be very careful with their personal documents because identity theft is so prevalent,” said the Assemblyman. “This was a terrific opportunity for people to bring personal records that people no longer need—such as bank statements and tax information—and have them safely destroyed. We had a little rain and a little sun and everyone who came was delighted to meet our new community liaison Chesky Klein.”
