Assemblyman Dov Hikind (D-Brooklyn) is proud to announce that his office has secured the Boro Park Y as a new polling site for Boro Park residents. The new polling site, which is handicapped-accessible, is located at 4912 14th Avenue making it easier for many residents to exercise their rights to vote.

Noting that existing polling sites were not centrally located, Assemblyman Hikind contacted the Brooklyn Board of Elections in March specifically asking for the Borough Park Y to be designated as a site. “The Boro Park Y is an ideal polling site for the numerous elderly and otherwise infirmed residents of Boro Park,” said Hikind who is also working on making other sites more accessible to local residents. “There’s no reason seniors should have to walk seven blocks to vote—my objective is to make it easier for everyone to exercise their right to vote.”

Assemblyman Hikind noted that the Boro Park Y was a polling site in years past. He expressed his gratitude to Mendy Reiner, a member of Community Board 12, for bringing the issue to his attention, and to Ellie Kastel, Executive Director of the Boro Park Y; Chaim Israel, President of the Board of Directors of the Boro Park Y; and Diane Haslett-Rudiano, Chief Clerk of the Brooklyn Board of Elections, for restoring the Boro Park Y as a polling site.
