HIKIND: “We’re working together to resolve all issues. I’m very optimistic that we’ll see a historic resolution to this issue.”
Assemblyman Dov Hikind (D-Brooklyn) met this morning with NYC Department of Sanitation Commissioner Kathryn Garcia and NYC Councilman David Greenfield to further his ongoing efforts to resolve morning sanitation pick-ups impeding school buses. Assemblyman Hikind has been pushing this agenda for months while working closely with representatives of the community’s bus drivers, who also sent a representative this morning to walk around Boro Park with the Commissioner.
“Morning garbage pick-ups in Boro Park make a difficult situation worse,” said Hikind. “Our community is genuinely unique in terms of this issue. Commissioner Garcia saw for herself how many buses our yeshivas are running and the vast amount of children who are walking to school. The Councilman and I are grateful to the Commissioner for coming here personally. We’re all working together to resolve our community’s issues and I’m very optimistic that we’ll see a historic resolution to the sanitation-school bus issue, which will help restore everyone’s sanity during our busy morning hours.”
Assemblyman Hikind was also joined by Community Board 12 Chairman Yidel Perlstein and District Manager Barry Spitzer.
