‘Iran Continues to Violate JCPOA, We Continue to Be Silent; It’s Deafening’

Condemns $20,000 Payment for Each Murdered Israeli Man, Woman, Child in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv

Assemblyman Dov Hikind (D-Brooklyn) called on elected officials who supported the Iran deal for immediate action following Iran’s recent violation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), which was signed by hundreds of congressional delegates within the tri-state area last year. Iran garnered national headlines days ago after testing two ballistic missiles marked with a Hebrew phrase that translates to “Israel should be wiped.”

“While Iran continues to violate the agreement, we continue to be deafened by the silence,” an outraged Assemblyman Hikind wrote in a letter to the congressional delegation expressing his outrage. “Iran continues to test the United States and the United Nations; they continue to spew hate toward the United States and Israel, and continue to call for the destruction of Israel. When will we wake up and realize that, at some point, these are not just words and rhetoric?”

To make matters worse, Iran recently pledged to pay each murderer of innocent Israeli men, women and children walking the streets of Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. Assemblyman Hikind reiterated that some of the billions of dollars given to Iran as part of a sanction relief agreement would be used to fund these murderers.

“That money is going right into the pockets of murderers,” he said. “What of message are we sending by not standing up and condemning these actions? Remaining silent is undeniably perpetuating this hatred towards Jews.”

Added Hikind: “I recall many elected officials, who backed the deal, acknowledged that should Iran violate any part of the agreement they would be there to demand immediate action. We’re all judged on our words and actions, similarly on our silence and inaction. So where are you today to fulfill your promise and speak out against terrorists and murderers? It’s time to honor your word.”
